Terms of Service
Last updated: March 29, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using SteinDB ("the Service"), including the web playground, API, CLI tool, and dashboard, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
SteinDB is an AI-powered platform for bidirectional Oracle and PostgreSQL SQL migration. The Service provides deterministic rule-based conversion, LLM-assisted transpilation, and automated verification of converted SQL. SteinDB is available as a web playground, REST API, CLI tool, and cloud dashboard.
3. Accounts
Some features require an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and API keys. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the proprietary platform components.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to it.
- Use automated means to access the Service beyond documented API endpoints and rate limits.
- Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service without written permission.
- Submit SQL containing malicious code, SQL injection attempts, or prompt injection attacks against the AI components.
5. Subscriptions and Billing
SteinDB offers free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed on a monthly or annual basis through Stripe, our payment processor. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize us to charge the payment method on file at the beginning of each billing cycle.
Subscription prices are listed in US Dollars (USD) and exclude applicable taxes. We reserve the right to change subscription prices with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers. Price changes do not affect the current billing period.
You may upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time through the billing dashboard. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. See our Refund Policy for details on refunds.
6. Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability of the Service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance, infrastructure updates, or unforeseen circumstances. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime in advance.
Enterprise customers with SLA agreements are subject to the uptime guarantees and remedies specified in their individual service contracts.
7. Intellectual Property
The SteinDB CLI tool is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (BSL 1.1). The source code is publicly available, but production use beyond the grant specified in the license requires a commercial subscription. The SteinDB web platform, API, and dashboard are proprietary. Your input SQL and converted output remain your property. We do not claim ownership of your data.
8. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. SteinDB shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the Service.
SQL conversions should always be reviewed and tested before use in production environments. SteinDB does not guarantee 100% accuracy of any conversion output. In no event shall our total liability exceed the amounts paid by you to SteinDB during the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
9. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
